THE BOOKWORMERY
Terrible
Hello, dear readers. Thank you for your patience and my apologies for arriving in your inbox on Sunday rather than Saturday. It has been a week of having gastroenteritis and of being separated from my phone (which I have left in London and cannot get to until next week), both of which stupidities have put me waaaaay behind with everything.
But! I have just had my first proper food in five days (bread roll, butter, strong recommend) and am now high on life and eager to share with you the terrible thing that has happened to my library, some thoughts on book organisation (I wanted to do this last week but - this is true - I couldn’t find my copy of Georges Perec’s Brief Notes On the Art and Manner of Arranging One’s Books, without which I felt unable to proceed. But I have it now. It was not where I expected, nor where it should have been. The fact that these are two separate places should give you some idea of the level of my talents in this area), my growing love of gardening (I know! I am absolutely unique amongst perimenopausal women) and my problem with nature writing, and my latest book recommendations, via - as ever - a few highways and byways.
Onward! For at least as long as my stomach continues to tolerate the rich feast I have just given it.
Happy reading, and I’m looking forward to meeting at least one subscriber at the Penzance Literary Festival on Thursday that I know of but if there are any more of you please do make yourselves known as well!
Lucy xx
